A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the families and those affected by the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team. Click HERE to donate.

Fourteen people have been confirmed dead, including the team's coach and captain, after a bus carrying the team was involved in a serious crash Friday evening in northeastern Saskatchewan.

The campaign was started by Humboldt, Sask., resident Sylvie Kellington.

'I am currently working with the GoFundMe team to ensure funds will be dispersed to the families at an appropriate time,' Kellington wrote in a description of the account.

Approximately 17 hours after the GoFundMe account opened it had surpassed $1 million in donations.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman was among the many who have sent messages of condolence.

'Our thoughts are with the players, families, coaches, team management and all those throughout the community who have been affected by the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey team,' Bettman stated. 'The NHL mourns the passing of those who perished and offers strength and comfort to those injured while traveling to play and be part of a game they all love.'
